Description:

"Titanium straight wire" is not a specific alloy designation in itself; rather, it refers to a particular product form - titanium and titanium alloys in the form of "straight wire". Its material can be industrial pure titanium (such as Gr1, Gr2), or various titanium alloys Gr5 Gr23 Ti6242.

Titanium straight wire usually refers to a thin wire or filament with a small diameter (common ranges from 0.05 millimeters to several millimeters) and a straight shape. In contrast, there are "titanium coiled wire" or "titanium flat wire".

It is achieved through processes such as forging, rolling, and drawing, where the titanium ingot or bar is gradually processed to become thinner, ultimately reaching the desired diameter and straightness of the wire.

Applications:

Titanium straight wires have extremely wide applications, covering almost all areas that require the excellent properties of titanium, and the product forms are thin, long and straight. They can be mainly classified into the following major categories:

1. Medical devices and human implants (high-end core applications)

This is one of the most demanding fields in terms of material requirements, and mainly uses pure titanium wires and Gr23 wires.

Surgical sutures/fixed threads: Used in orthopedic surgeries (such as tendon and ligament repair), maxillofacial surgery, and cardiovascular surgeries. Titanium wires have high strength and cause minimal tissue reaction, and can be used as non-absorbable permanent sutures.

Dental field:

Orthodontic wires: Orthodontic archwires. Utilizing the super elasticity and shape memory effect of titanium alloys (especially nickel-titanium memory alloy wires, although not the typical "straight" wires, they still fall under the category of wire materials), they provide continuous and gentle orthodontic forces.

Upper structure of dental implants: Used for manufacturing or connecting dental crowns.

Bone needles, bone nails and internal fixation mesh materials: Used for fracture fixation or to support and guide the regeneration in areas with bone defects.

Vascular stents and cardiac occluder frameworks: Formed by precisely braiding titanium wires into tubular or umbrella-like structures, they are implanted into vascular or cardiac defect sites.

2. Industry and High-End Manufacturing

Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing): As the raw material for metal 3D printing. Titanium alloy powder is usually prepared using the plasma rotating electrode method (PREP) or the aerosolization method (EIGA), using titanium alloy rods or wires as the raw materials.

Welding materials: Used as welding wires for argon arc welding, plasma welding, and electron beam welding. The material of the welding wire should match or be compatible with the base material. They are used in the manufacturing and repair of titanium equipment (such as chemical containers, submarine pressure hulls, aircraft components).

Filters and screens: They are either woven into dense filters or sintered into porous filtering materials, used for precise filtration in industries such as chemical, pharmaceutical, and food. They are corrosion-resistant and easy to clean.

Electrochemistry and Corrosion Engineering: As an anode bed material for cathodic protection. Titanium wires are coated with precious metal oxides (MMO) on their surface, then buried underground or in seawater, used to protect oil pipelines, steel piles of docks, ship bodies, etc.

Precision instruments and sensors: Used for manufacturing high-precision springs, wires, elastic components, etc.

3. Consumer Goods and Fashion Sector

Eyeglass frames: High-end titanium wire is the top material for making ultra-light, highly elastic, and hypoallergenic eyeglass frames (especially frameless or thin-rimmed glasses).

Jewelry: Used for making necklaces, bracelets, rings, etc. that are modern in style, lightweight and non-allergenic.

High-end outdoor products: such as lightweight poles for tents, components of hiking sticks, etc.

Sports equipment: Stringing for tennis rackets and badminton rackets (with reinforced cores of high-end materials), or guide rings for fishing rods, etc.

Fasteners and Rivets: In areas requiring high strength and corrosion resistance, special fasteners made from titanium alloy wire are used.
