ASTM B348 is the global standard for titanium and titanium alloy bars and billets. It covers round bar, square bar, hexagonal bar, flat bar, and forging billet in all CP and alloy grades including Gr1 through Gr5, Gr7, Gr9, Gr12, and Gr23 ELI. Key mechanical requirements: Gr2 tensile 345 MPa, Gr5 tensile 895 MPa, Gr23 ELI tensile 828 MPa. B348 requires reduction of area testing, a ductility measure critical for forging. Hot-finished tolerances range from 0.13mm to 0.25mm, cold-finished half that. For industrial use specify B348; for aerospace use AMS 4928 which adds ultrasonic testing and full traceability.
