Como Escolher o Grau de Titânio: Um Guia de Seleção para Compradores
Choosing the wrong titanium grade can double your material cost or lead to premature failure. This guide walks through five decision factors for selecting the optimal grade.Factor 1: Strength RequirementsLow strength (240-345 MPa): Gr1 and Gr2 for general industrial, chemical piping, heat exchangers. Medium strength (450-620 MPa): Gr3, Gr4, Gr9 for pressure vessels, tubing, sports. High strength (828-895 MPa): Gr5 and Gr23 ELI for aerospace, medical, automotive.Factor 2: Corrosion EnvironmentSeawater and most chemicals: Gr2 handles the vast majority of industrial applications at the lowest cost. Reducing acids (HCl, H2SO4) or hot chlorides above 80C: Upgrade to Gr7 (palladium) or Gr12 (nickel-molybdenum, lower cost). Body fluids: Gr4 and Gr23 ELI per ASTM F136.Factor 3: Fabrication MethodWelding: Gr2 is the most weldable, no post-weld treatment. Gr5 requires more care. Forming: Gr1 is the most formable. Gr9 offers best strength-formability balance. Machining: Gr5 machines better than CP grades.Factor 4: Operating TemperatureUp to 250C: All grades, Gr2 most cost-effective. 250-400C: Gr5 maintains good strength. Above 400C: specialized high-temperature alloys required.Factor 5: Budget and CertificationsCost ranking (lowest to highest): Gr2, Gr9, Gr12, Gr5, Gr7, Gr23 ELI. Aerospace requires AMS-certified with UT. Medical implants require ASTM F136 or F67. Industrial uses ASTM B265/B348/B338 with EN 10204 3.1.Contact Ylasting Titanium for free material selection guidance. All grades from factory stock with full mill test certificates.
